For the second consecutive year, an initiative established through the cooperation of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court, the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, and the Latvian Association of Administrative Judges has provided law students with the opportunity to develop practical courtroom skills in resolving legal disputes.

On May 27, future legal professionals took part in a moot court competition held in the courtrooms of the Supreme Court. During the competition, participants examined and argued an administrative law case under the guidance of professional judges.

The students participated in simulated court proceedings in two Supreme Court courtrooms, each presided over by a panel of judges. In one courtroom, the panel consisted of Līvija Slica, Senator of the Department of Administrative Cases, Agris Dreimanis, Judge of the Regional Administrative Court, and Sandija Audzere, Judge of the District Administrative Court. In the other courtroom, the proceedings were overseen by Jautrīte Briede, Judge of the Constitutional Court, Ilze Freimane, Judge of the Regional Administrative Court, and Silvija Kuškina, Judge of the District Administrative Court.

The moot court competition was organized as part of the Faculty of Law’s study course “Administrative Procedure Law.”
