The 8th of May was important day for Georgijs Kuznecovs, long-term ex-judge of the Supreme Court, as Andris Berzins, the President of the state visited him to give state award – The Cross of Recognition.
Due to health problems, Georgijs Kuznecovs was not able to arrive to ceremony of giving awards on the 4th of May in Riga Palace, so the award was delivered to him personally. The ex-judge was touched for honour that the President found time to pay a visit.
In his turn, the President assessed that working life of Georgijs Kuznecovs deserved appreciation long time ago, and it is good that the Supreme Court evaluated it and introduced it for an award.
In moment of awarding, Pavels Gruzins and Anita Nusberga, ex-colleagues of Georgijs Kuznecovs, were also present and they greeted him on behalf of the Supreme Court.
Georgijs Kuznecovs had worked in the post of a judge for 45 years, and he was a judge in the Supreme Court for 38 years – from 1962 until 2000. Since foundation of the Senate, he had been senator of the Department of Criminal Cases. Having finished working as a judge, Georgijs Kuznecovs was court consultant between 2003 and 2006.
