At this weekend, Supreme Court senators Sanita Osipova and Jānis Pleps and legal research counsel Ilvija Pūce will participate in the Conversation Festival LAMPA.
On July 5, at Cēsis Exhibition Hall at 16:00, Sanita Osipova, Senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate (Supreme Court) will participate in the conversation "Improvabilities of Higher Education". The conversation will focus on improvabilities of higher education, outlining existing and future challenges. The conversation will be led by sworn advocate and lecturer Lauris Liepa and director of the Public Law Institute Arvīds Dravnieks. Member of the European Parliament Ivars Ījabs, Minister of Justice Inese Lībiņa-Egnere, judge of the Court of Justice of the European Union Ineta Ziemele, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Rīga Stradiņš University Karina Palkova, professor of the University of Latvia Iveta Reinholde and student Agris Ratniks will also take part in the conversation. Whereas, on July 6, at Cēsis Castle Park Bibliotopia at 17:00, Sanita Osipova will take part in the conversation "Nation's Cornerstones", which will be led by Karina Pētersone, the director of the Support Society of the Latvian National Library. Former President of Latvia Egils Levits, historian Gustavs Strenga, director of the Latvian National Library Andris Vilks, stage director Laura Groza and writer-publicist Marina Kostenecka will also take part in the conversation. On Saturday, July 6 at 10:00 – 19:00, the Saturday History School “CANON of Latvian History” will take place at Cēsis Exhibition Hall. During it, at 13:30 Jānis Pleps, Senator of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate (Supreme Court) will be inquired about the people and country of Latvia by journalist Eduards Liniņš, teacher Baiba Atmane and Agris Bitāns, managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns. On Saturday, July 6 at 16:30, the discussion "How much does a political prisoner cost?" will be held in the Bad Neighbours Tent at Cēsis Castle Park, in which the legal research counsel of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate, international human rights expert Ilvija Pūce will take part. The discussion will be led by human rights and environmental rights activist Madara Melnika, and the participants shall include Deputy Speaker of the Saeima Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, journalist Jauhenija Dougaja, human rights defender Zmicier Furmanaŭ and human rights activist Aija Stacenko.
