The 4th issue of “Bulletin of the Supreme Court” is published and it will reach all Latvian courts and other judicial institutions, as well as libraries and higher educational institutions in nearest future.
Bulletin contains information about activities of the Supreme Court related to topical issues in field of human rights and international cooperation, as well as topical decisions of the Board of Justice in issues conceptual to judiciary.
New articles written by senators and judges of the Supreme Court for both Latvian and foreign legal editions and ultimate articles may be found in bulletin. Jautrite Briede, the senator of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate gives review about trends in Latvian administrative law; Aldis Lavins, the senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court, updates several issues on competency of cassation instance in civil cases. Zane Petersone, executer of duties of a judge of the Chamber of Civil Cases and representative of Latvia in the Association of European Judges for Mediation gives insight in implementation of mediation model derived by court in settlement of civil disputes in Latvia, and Peteris Dzalbe, the Chairman of the Department of Criminal Cases of the Senate and the Chairman of Judicial Disciplinary Committee provides his view on prospect of implementation of unified disciplinary liability.
Public report about operation of the Supreme Court in 2011 is also published in bulletin. It contains summary of reports of Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and heads of structural units given in annual plenary session of the Supreme Court, as well as statistical data characterising work of the Supreme Court in year 2011.
News that may be very useful for participants of proceedings and judges, and other persons dealing with application of laws and regulations, is systematised classification of case-law of the Senate of 2011.
The Supreme Court restored bulletin publishing tradition in 2010. Bulletin has been arranged and published twice a year.
