This week a 900-page book "Public Law" was published and reached its readers.
For the first time, the book tackles an interaction of all branches of modern public law as a single phenomenon. The most important concepts and principles of various branches of law are examined in a concentrated way, both in sense of their historical development and their mutual interaction. In addition, all types of procedural law are treated as a single branch of law.
The scientific monograph was created by a collective effort of 21 authors under the scientific editorship of Ineta Ziemele, Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union, and Sanita Osipova, Senator of the Supreme Court of Latvia.
Jānis Pleps, Senator of the Supreme Court of Latvia, is also a member of the team of authors. In the book, he has defined the subject of public law and has also explained such basic concepts of public law as nation and sovereignty.
The publishers “Courthouse Agency” notes that the book is primarily intended as a teaching aid for law students. However, it will be useful to any lawyer, as it includes several issues of public law that are considered for the first time in Latvian legal literature.
