Chair of the Department meets with heads of Associations of European and Latvian Administrative Judges

On September 30, Anita Kovaļevska, Chair of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate (Supreme Court), met with Sylvain Mérenne, President of the Association of European Administrative Judges, and Sandija Audzere, Judge of the District Administrative Court and Chair of the Association of Latvian Administrative Judges.
During the meeting, the activities of the Association of European Administrative Judges were discussed, and the President of the Association shared his vision on the possibilities to involve the Association of Latvian Administrative Judges in the implementation of its objectives.
The Association of European Administrative Judges was founded in 2000. It is composed of national associations representing administrative judges from the Member States of the European Union and the Council of Europe, as well as individual members representing administrative judges from countries where no such associations have been established. The Association promotes dialogue among judges, helps to approximate national practices and aims to strengthen the rule of law at both national and European level. To date, the Association unites national associations of administrative judges from 19 European countries, as well as individual members from 15 European countries.
