In order to share experience on current issues faced by the courts, on Monday the Supreme Court was visited by a delegation of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic, headed by its President Petr Angyalossy.
The discussions covered issues such as the appointment procedure of Supreme Court judges, remuneration and restrictions of Supreme Court judges, the organisation of the court's work and the monitoring of case processing times. The colleagues also shared their experience on electronic case management systems, the accessibility and anonymization of judicial decisions, and the use of artificial intelligence in court work. Discussions on procedural issues, such as how civil and criminal cases are examined, were also useful for giving rise to new ideas and solutions, even though the laws in both countries differ.
The guests visited the exhibition of European judicial robes created by the Supreme Court, which also included robes sent by the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic and the Supreme Administrative Court of the Czech Republic.
The Supreme Court of the Czech Republic’s delegation included President Petr Angyalossy, President of a Panel of Civil and Commercial Division Bohumil Dvořák, and Director of the Office of President Aleš Pavel.
The guests were welcomed by President of the Supreme Court of Latvia Aigars Strupišs, Chair of the Department of Civil Cases Normunds Salenieks, Senators Sanita Osipova, Inese Laura Zemīte and Dzintra Amerika, as well as Head of Administration Sandra Lapiņa, Head of the Division of Case-law and Research Anita Zikmane, and Project Manager Zane Mičule.
