Despite tense schedule of rehearsals and concerts at the Song Festival, pupils from Music and Art School of Baltinava visited the Supreme Court on Friday. They came to Riga to participate in XI Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival. They told about their interest to see the Supreme Court to Aivars Keiss, the man from the same district, graduate of the Baltinava Secondary School, and now – the judge of the Supreme Court, to learn about daily routine of a judge of the Supreme Court, what features and skills a person must hold to be able to review the most complex disputes in civil cases.

Aivars Keiss, the judge of the Department of Civil Cases, told pupils his, as he said, his race of a country-boy from Baltinava to the office of a judge, which is held for 21 years already. Pupils were much interested in the fact that A.Keiss also played in an orchestra and participated in School Youth Song and Dance Festival in his childhood. Having pointed out that everything can be achieved in life, the judge encouraged pupils to advance to achievement of their goals, and to study in order to fulfil their dreams.

During the guided tour, pupils also visited the Ministry of Justice, the museum of the Supreme Court, went through passages of the Palace of Justice, seeing sculpture “Justice” made by Karlis Zemdega and historical court room of the Senate decorated with inscription “One law – one justice for all”.
