On April 11, employees of the Division of Case-law and Research of the Supreme Court met with the young researchers of the Doctoral study program of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, who are conducting research in cooperation with the Supreme Court.

The initiator of the meeting was the Supreme Court aiming to discuss the research developments.

Five of the eight researchers who are currently working on research topics harmonized with the Supreme Court attended the meeting. The studies under development refer both to issues analysed in the Senate's case-law, such as joint ownership, orality as a principle in criminal proceedings, unilateral withdrawal from a contract or public procurement issues, as well as to topics on which the Senate's findings are scarce, such as the jurisdiction aspects of transactions concluded to the detriment of a creditor, economic analysis as evidence, recognition requirements, and matters of judicial appointment. Therefore, these studies will serve as the contribution to both the analysis of existing jurisprudence and the development of legal science.

During the conversation, the researchers of the Doctoral School took intertest in certain aspects of the availability of Senate's rulings. Moreover, the use of other research resources used in the work of the Division of Case-law and Research was also discussed.
