On 16 June, having reached maximum age to discharge judicial duties, which is stipulated in the law “On Judicial Power”, Raimonds Gravelsins, the judge of the Chamber of Civil Cases terminates work in the Supreme Court.
Raimonds Gravelsins has held judicial office for 34 years, inter alia, 25 years – in the Supreme Court. He had been the judge of the Chamber of Civil Cases, since November 2014 – discharged duties of the Chair of the Chamber of Civil Cases. A member of the Judicial Disciplinary Committee since 2010.
In accordance with amendments to the law “On Judicial Power”, the maximum age to hold judge’s office is 70 years, without opportunity to prolong it and without opportunity to terminate to review cases processed.
On 15 June, the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court elected the judge Ineta Ozola to the office of the Chair of the Chamber of Civil Cases.
