January 22 will be the last work day in the Supreme Court for the judge Eduards Pupovs. Today Saeima has made a decision to release him from the post of the judge of the Supreme Court, as he reached maximum age of judge established by the law – 70 years.
Eduards Pupovs has worked in system of justice since 1970. He was investigator, assistant to prosecutor, the judge, and also the Chair of the Court of Kurzemes district of Riga and court of present Latgales district of Riga; he was the director of the Department of district (city) courts of the Ministry of Justice. In 1994 Eduards Pupovs was elected for the post of deputy of the Chair of Riga regional court and the Chair of the Judicial Panel of Criminal Cases.
Since 1997 Eduards Pupovs has worked as the judge in the Chamber of Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court.
He has been awarded with Mark of Distinction of the Ministry of Justice of III tier. In a voting of the staff of the Supreme Court in 2009 Eduards Pupovs received Themis Award in nomination “The Judge of the Year”, but, while terminating his work – the Writing of Acknowledgement of the Supreme Court.
