On Friday, January 26, Ivars Bickovics, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, will take part in the official opening ceremony of a new working year at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Within the framework of this event, an international seminar on the authority of the judiciary will be held, in which Dace Mita, judge of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court, will give a presentation on the strategy of court communication.

The chairs of supreme courts and constitutional courts of member states will discuss the challenges to the authority of the judiciary in the context of the separation of powers and in the context of the responsibility of the judiciary and the judges. As a means of responding to the new challenges, judicial communication strategies and other in-court activities will be discussed.

Guido Raimondi, President of the European Court of Human Rights, will open the international seminar. Participants will be addressed by Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

Ineta Ziemele, President of the Constitutional Court of Latvia, will also participate in the opening of new working year of the European Court of Human Rights.
