Traditionally, the delegation of the Supreme Court goes on a visit to exchange experience to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg annually, however, this year delegation goes to the International Criminal Court in The Hague for the first time.

The delegation that went to The Hague on the 23rd of April is lead by Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; delegation consists of Peteris Dzalbe, the Head of the Department of Criminal Cases of the Senate, Veronika Krumina, the Head of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate, Pavels Gruzins, the Head of the Division of Case-Law, Sandra Lapina, the Head of the Administration, Elina Majore, the Head of the Chancery of the Senate and Jekaterina Cernenko, the court interpreter.

On the 24th of April the delegation of the Supreme Court will meet Sang-Hyun Song, the President of the International Criminal Court and Anita Usacka, the judge from Latvia. The delegation will also visit Prosecutor’s Bureau at the International Criminal Court and will learn about administration of court work.

Moreover, today, on the 23rd of April, Latvian delegation will meet Maris Klisans, ambassador of Latvia in the Netherlands and will visit the Peace Palace collectively. In the Peace Palace delegation will meet Steven van Hoogstraten, General Director of the Carnegie Foundation. International Court of Justice and The Hague Permanent Court of Arbitration are located in the Peace Palace.
