The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court participates in Colloquium of Supreme Courts of the EU in Paris

Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, participates in 5th colloquium organised by the Network of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union in Paris on October 25-26. The subject of the colloquium is “Appointment of judges of Supreme Courts, European Court of Justice and European Court of Human Rights”.
Klaus Tolksdorf, the President of German Federal Court, and Geert J.M. Corsten, the President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, will read reports at the conference. Supreme Courts of all member states were inquired about legal regulation and experience on appointment of judges in each state before colloquium.
The Network of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union was founded in 2004. the goal of the Network is to promote exchange of opinions and experience on case-law, organisation and functions of supreme courts especially those which touch their operation in application of legislation in European Community law.
