On the 19th of July, Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, met Janis Bordans, the new Minister of Justice to discuss prospective of further cooperation.

During the first visit, the Minister indicated his general vision of field of justice and prior directions of operation including effectivisation of court proceedings as well as improvement of IT solutions in field of justice. The Minister listened to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and his vision about more effective problem of courts’ overload and to guarantee commensurate terms of court proceedings.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court positively evaluates involvement of the Minister to support cooperation promised and initiatives performed to solve court problems, listening to opinion of courts. According to the law “On Judicial Power”, the Minister of Justice is a member of the Board of Justice.
