On August 20, the Senator Rita Saulite of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate leaves her position.
The Senator leaves the position of her own volition, she retires. The Saeima (Parliament) passed the decision to release Saulite from the Senator’s duties on June 19.
The express gratitude for her longtime diligent work and her contribution in the strengthening of lawfulness, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ivars Bickovics presented Rita Saulite an award of the Supreme Court.
Rita Saulite started to work in the Supreme Court in 1972 in the position of the Head of the Chancery. In 1978 – 1985 she held the position of a senior advisor in the division of generalization of court practice. In 1985 she was elected in the position of a member of the Supreme Court in the Panel of Civil Cases. In 1990, the Judge was conferred the first qualification grade.
When on June 13, 1990, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Latvia elected the judges of the restored Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia, Rita Saulite was among them. After the reorganization of the Latvian court system in 1995 she was confirmed in the position of the Senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate.
Rita Saulite participated in the group working out the draft of the Civil Procedure Law, she is a reviewer of the commentaries to the section on property rights of the Civil Law and the co-author of the commentaries to the Civil Procedure Law. She has carried out numerous generalizations of the court practice.
