President of the Supreme Court participates in the General Assembly of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the EU

This week, on November 9 and 10, Aigars Strupišs, the President of the Supreme Court of Latvia, is participating in the activities of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the EU in Vienna – the General Assembly, the Colloquium of the Network, and the joint meeting with the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights.
At the General Assembly, the participants will be introduced to the Report on the Activities of the Network, financial reports, adopted resolutions. Moreover, the request of the Supreme Court of Serbia for admission as Observer of the Network will be considered, and the elections of the Board Members and of the President of the Network will take place.
The theme of the Colloquium is the creation of uniform case-law at the Supreme Court level. Solutions and good practices of countries will be discussed.
The joint meeting with the CJEU and the ECtHR will be attended by Koen Lenaerts, the President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and Síofra O’Leary, the President of the European Court of Human Rights, during which the judicial dialogue on fundamental rights issues, as well as the impact of artificial intelligence on court work and administration of justice will be considered.
The purpose of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the EU is to promote the exchange of opinions and experiences among national Supreme Courts on national case-law, work organization and functions of Supreme Courts. The Network unites the Presidents of the Supreme Courts of 34 countries. The general meeting of members or the General Assembly is convened once every two years.
