Today, 31 January, Dzintra Amerika, Senator of the Senate's Department of Administrative Cases, is visiting the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to represent the Supreme Court of Latvia at the traditional opening ceremony of the Court's judicial year. This event will also include a seminar on the highly topical issue of " Protecting human rights in a world of Artificial Intelligence, algorithms and big data".

The international seminar will be opened by Marko Bošnjak, President of the European Court of Human Rights. The seminar will bring together judges from supranational and national courts and international law experts to discuss European standards on artificial intelligence, freedom of expression in the age of artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence and the right to a fair trial, and the addressing of potential discrimination in artificial intelligence.

The European Court of Human Rights is an international court established in 1959. The Court examines complaints alleging violations of the Convention and its Protocols and gives advisory opinions on the interpretation of the Convention and its Protocols. The Court is composed of 46 judges, one from each member state of the Council of Europe.
