Courts and departments of land books are appointed, in which newly approved judges will execute work duties

The Board of Justice appointed district (city) courts and departments of land books, in which eight judges approved by Saeima in December 2010, will execute their duties.

Ieva Cudina and Vita Puskundze will execute work duties in Riga district court, Kristine Maike – in court of Vidzemes district of Riga city, Sanita Rutena-Laizane – in court of Kurzemes district of Riga city, and Anita Eglija – in Liepaja city court.

Inese Berzkalne and Jolanta Livena, judges of departments of land books are appointed to execute their duties in Riga district land book department and Anita Rudzisa is appointed to work in Riga city land book department.

According to the Article 60 of the Law “On Judicial Power”, the judge of district (city) court has been appointed by Saeima for the term of three years upon proposal of the Minister of Justice. On the basis of the decision made by Saeima, the Board of Justice appoints concrete district (city) court or court house, in which the judge has to execute his/her duties. Also, according to the Article 98² of the law, on the basis of the decision of Saeima about appointment of the judge in the post of the judge of land book department, the Board of Justice appoints concrete land book department, in which the judge will execute his/her duties.
