The Courthouse Agency has already published the third edition of the textbook “Administrative Law”.

The authors of the book are lecturers of the Department of Public Law Sciences of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, namely a professor and a judge of the Constitutional Court Jautrīte Briede, an associate professor and the acting dean of the Faculty of Law Edvīns Danovskis, and a lecturer and a senator of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court Anita Kovaļevska.

The textbook is primarily a teaching tool for students taking an administrative law course. However, it is useful to every lawyer, who aims to update knowledge of concepts and principles of administrative law. Therefore, taking into account the demand and changes in the legal framework and the development of case-law, the book has been issued for the third time. The first edition of the book was published in 2016, the second in 2021.

Although the content of this book largely coincides with the text of the previous edition, Chapter 5 "Municipalities" and Chapter 10 on whistleblower report submission and whistleblower protection have been reworked. This was necessary because in 2022 a new Local Government Law and the Whistleblowing Law were adopted.

Other additions and clarifications have been made to the book’s body text and illustrations, as well as the list of recommended sources has been updated.

The presentation of each topic is illustrated with examples, including case-law. A list of recommended literature is provided at the beginning of each chapter. Other indicators should also be useful, such as the list of sources used and the alphabetical index of concepts.

The reviewers of the book are Veronika Krūmiņa, Chair of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court, Anita Rodiņa, Judge of the Constitutional Court, Associate professor of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, and Gatis Litvins, Associate professor of the Faculty of Law of Turība University.

The book can be purchased at the online store of the Courthouse Agency: https://tnagramatas.tna.lv, and in the Legal Literature Bookstore of the Courthouse Agency in Riga, 1b Baldones Street.
