Tuesday, February 14, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court accepted oaths of notaries Iveta Ozolina and Inese Moroza.

Iveta Ozolina was appointed to execute duties of notary in operational area of Vidzeme Regional Court in Valka and Smiltene, and Inese Moroza – in operational area of Latgale Regional Court in Daugavpils.

Sworn Notaries will take up their duties on 1 March.

After the oath making, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court wished the notaries to take care of good reputation of Latvian notaries, as the society associates the word ‘notary’ with stability and security. In turn, executive director of the Council of Sworn Notaries, Vija Pizica, wished new colleagues not just to be professional,  but also to be sincere, as sincerity is the first thing customers appreciate and which forms an idea of ​​the Latvian state, because a notary is a public representative.

Sworn notaries are persons belonging to the court system, who are assigned to regional courts. According to the Notariate Law, a sworn notary shall be included in the list of sworn notaries and may commence the fulfillment of the duties of office only when he or she has insured the professional activity risk and has given the oath to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
