The Plenary Session of the Supreme Court on the 2nd of May elected Vesma Kakste, the senator of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate, for the post of the member of the Disciplinary Court.

The Disciplinary Court, which is convened in the Senate of the Supreme Court to evaluate rule of law of decisions of the Judicial Disciplinary Committee, was founded in 2010, and senators Andris Gulans and Normunds Salenieks were elected in its composition from the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate. As the senator N.Salenieks moved to work in the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate, the Plenary Session had to elect another representative.

The Judicial Disciplinary Liability Law states that six judges of the Senate of the Supreme Court, namely, two judges from the Department of Civil Cases, two judges from the Department of Criminal Cases and two judges of the Department of Administrative Cases, are elected in the Disciplinary Court.

The Plenary Session of the Supreme Court also re-elected representative of the court in the Central Election Commission, trusting this post to the senator Peteris Dzalbe repeatedly.

The law “On Central Election Commission” states that the Saeima, not later than six months after its convocation, forms the Central Election Commission consisting of eight members elected by the Saeima and one member elected by the Supreme Court in is Plenary Session.
