With great delay due to preparation of collection, collection of rulings of the Senate of 2010 has reached its readers finally. The Supreme Court prepared regular collection of rulings in cooperation with public joint-stock company “Tiesu namu agentura” (“Courthouse Agency”).
Rulings of all departments of the Senate – the Department of Civil Cases, the Department of Criminal Cases and the Department of Administrative Cases – of the greatest legal importance have been selected in the collection. It gives insight into work of the Senate in general and allows to compare case-law of each department, as well as to evaluate development of case-law in all branches of law.
Rulings of significant importance both in uniform interpretation and application of legal standards and in promotion of coordination and development of case-law are selected for publishing. Importance and topicality of cases reviewed in the court and conclusions made by the court for extended public – especially, for legal scientists and practicing lawyers – are taken into account. Conclusions of the court included in all rulings of departments of the Senate published in the collection, are case-law.
Relatively, each part of rulings of the department of the Senate may be considered as a separate book, which provides general statement of work of each department in 2010 and gives an insight in issues updated, when reviewing concrete cases, as those are important both to the court and society to provide fair justice.
Each part of rulings of the book has its own extended contents, as well as an abstract in the beginning of the part. As well, several indices have been created for each part separately, which may help to find conclusion of the court or ruling a person is interested in, by different criteria.
Senators Veronika Krumina, Edite Vernusa and Peteris Dzalbe, assistants to senators Agris Dreimanis and Nora Magone, and Zinaida Indruna, the adviser of the Division of Case-law, participated in development of collection.
Price of collection of rulings of the Senate in e-shop of Courthouse Agency is LVL 32.50. It is also available in book-stall of Courthouse Agency in building of Riga regional court, 34 Brivibas boulevard, on the ground floor, as well as in other bookshops.
