The Judicial Council has announced an open competition for the post of Prosecutor General. Candidates are welcome to apply until 31 January.

Candidates for the post of Prosecutor General must meet the requirements set out in the Office of the Prosecutor Law, as well as the requirements for obtaining a special permit for access to state secrets set out in the Law on Official Secret. 

Along with the application, the candidate has to submit a concept for the development of the prosecutor's office.

Within the competition, candidates for the post of Prosecutor General will be evaluated in accordance with the Regulation of competition, evaluation criteria and selection procedure of candidates for the post of Prosecutor General approved by the Judicial Council.

The competition is being announced because the term of office of the current Prosecutor General Juris Stukāns will end on July 11.
