Jautrite Briede, the senator of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate, goes to Georgia today to observe parliamentarian elections on the 1st of October.
The senator goes to Georgia during her vacation and being a member of association for transparency “Delna” which is Latvian department of international organisation Transparency International, she will participate in elections as international volunteer observer, not being paid for this job.
Association for transparency “Delna” represented by thirteen its members and employees will be part of group of local and international observers of Georgian Transparency International department and this group consists of 300 people in total. It will work in all territory of the state.
Georgian Transparency International department highly evaluates Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian democratisation experience and work of civil society organisations in field of supervision of elections and politics. That’s why it invited representatives of all three Baltic States to observe compliance of Georgian parliamentarian elections with principles of rule of law and good management and with international standards.
Amendments to Constitution will come into force in Georgia in 2013, providing bigger power to the Parliament, so these elections are especially important.
