Saturday, May 17, on Museum Night, the Supreme Court invites visitors to take advantage of a rare opportunity – to visit the Palace of Justice and learn about the Supreme Court. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to see a unique exhibition of judges' robes from the Supreme Courts of more than 20 European countries.

Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Supreme Court Museum, the courtroom, meeting rooms, have a look into the office of the President of the Supreme Court, view the portrait galleries of Senators, Honorary Judges and Presidents of the Supreme Court, as well as the cabinet of souvenirs received by the Court. This year's special event during Museum Night will be an exhibition of European judges' robes.

The Supreme Court Museum, located in an unusual space – a bomb shelter – holds the history of the Latvian court system since 1918. Visitors may learn more about the lives of Senators during the interwar period and see original exhibits such as the insignia of a judge from the first period of the free state of Latvia and a special copy of the 1937 Civil Law.

Visitors will be able to view two exhibitions. The exhibition "Senators' Gifts to the Museum" provides captivating insights into the multifaceted personalities of present-day senators. Since the Senate was re-established in 1995, more than 70 senators have served in it.

The exhibition "Judicial Attires of European Judges" will show the power of tradition in the similarity and diversity of judicial symbols. More than 20 Supreme Courts from European countries responded to the call to participate in the exhibition and sent their judicial robes. This is a unique opportunity to see them all in one place.

The youngest visitors to Museum Night will be able to watch animated films about the court and to colour some thematic drawings. There will also be an opportunity to take a photo with Themis.

Court representatives will be ready to answer visitors' questions and short videos will help visitors learn about the work of the court. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Supreme Court judges in the courtroom.

The Supreme Court will be open during Museum Night on Saturday, May 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The Supreme Court is located Riga, Brīvības bulvāris 36, entrance from Elizabetes iela.

Please note that there will be a security check at the entrance to the court and every visitor will be required to present a valid ID (passport or ID card). The flow of visitors will be regulated according to the capacity of the premises.
