THE LEGAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE SUPPORTS CANDIDACY OF LAVINS TO THE POSITION OF A JUDGE OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT

The Legal Affairs Committee of the Saeima (the Parliament) today, on March 26, unanimously supported draft decision of the Saeima for confirmation in the position of a judge of the Constitutional Court.
It was conceded in the sitting of the committee that the Saeima might decide on candidacy of Aldis Lavins on April 3.
Aldis Lavins, the judge of the Supreme Court Department of Civil Cases, was nominated to the position of a judge of the Constitutional Court by the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court. The Board of Justice unanimously supported his candidacy.
