At the end of September, in order to get acquainted with the legal status of assistants to judges, advisers and of other court support staff, organization of work and cooperation with judges, legal research counsels Kristine Zemite and Nora Magone, and assistants to judges Silvija Kuskina, Madara Storha and Darta Eglite, participated in an experience exchange visit to the Czech Republic.
The employees of the Supreme Court of Latvia visited the Supreme Court, Supreme Administrative Court, the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic and the Faculty of Law of the Masaryk University in Brno in order to find out examples of good practice to use them in work of the support staff of judges.
Since during the visit an active discussion of all the parties took place, a number of other issues related to the organization of the judicial work, including court’s communication with the public, the anonymization of court rulings, involvement of court in the selection process of judges, training of judges and court staff, ensuring the uniform application of case-law and other issues were examined.
The experience exchange visit was organized within the framework of the European Social Fund project "Justice for Development".
