Tuesday, 27 September, representatives from the Georgian Ministry of Justice, Supreme Court and Disciplinary Boards of general jurisdiction courts visited Supreme Court to get introduced to the experience of Supreme Court in the formation of judicature and communication with public, as well as to meet Chairman of the Disciplinary Board of Justices.
Head of the Case-law and Research Division Anita Zikmane told Georgian colleagues about functions, statistics of the Supreme Court, work of Case-law and Research Division, as well as impact of the rulings of the European Human Rights Court on the national legal practice. But Head of the Communication Division Rasma Zvejniece shared her experience in the work of Supreme Court with public and media, as well as introduced to the communication documents approved by the Council for the Judiciary – judicial guidelines of the judicial system and judicial communication strategy.
In the afternoon representatives of the Georgian judicial system met with the Chairman of the Disciplinary Board of the Justices Peteris Dzalbe and listened to information about the disciplinary action system of justices in Latvia.
Representatives of the Georgian judicial system visited Latvia within the frameworks of the experience exchange project “Development of cooperation between the Georgian and Latvian institutions with the purpose to increase accessibility of courts, promote trust to courts and law enforcement institutions and boost the rule of law”.
