The Supreme Court (Senate) will welcome visitors to its premises in the Palace of Justice on the Museum Night, which will take place on Saturday, May 13. Take this opportunity to enter the Palace of Justice and get to know the Supreme Court.

Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Supreme Court Museum, the courtroom, meeting rooms, to have a look into the office of the President of the Supreme Court, and to view the portrait galleries of Senators, Honorary Judges and Presidents of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court Museum, which is located in an unusual room (a bomb shelter), stores not only the Supreme Court history, but also the history of the Latvian Senate and the entire judicial system of Latvia since 1918. The destinies of senators from the interwar period can be inspected in more detail, and original exhibits such as the badge of office of a judge of the first period of Latvian independence and a special copy of the Civil Law of 1937 can be viewed. Extensive and visually rich information can be accessed on the interactive display of the Latvian Senate's history.

In the museum, visitors can also learn about the beginnings of the work of the Supreme Court in the restored state of Latvia and the most significant developments of the Court. One can inspect judicial robes of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court, the fragment of the fence or “cage” of the detainees and a special suitcase carrying its own story.

Visitors to the Museum Night will have an opportunity to view the exhibition "Senate about the Constitution", which informs about contribution of the Supreme Court to the development and implementation of the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia, as well as to the strengthening of Constitution’s provisions after regaining independence of Latvia and the restoration of the Constitution.

There will be court employees who will answer the questions of interest, as well as videos will be shown, that will provide information about the work of the Court. Families with children are welcome to watch animations about the judge’s office and the types of cases examined in court.

The Supreme Court will be open to visitors on Museum Night on Saturday, May 13, from 6 pm to 11 pm.

The Supreme Court is located at Brīvības Boulevard 36, entrance from Elizabetes Street.

Please note that a security check will be carried out at the entrance to the Court and an identity document must be presented. The flow of visitors may be regulated according to the capacity of the premises.

Museum Night is an international campaign that has been taking place in Latvia for 17 years. The Supreme Court is participating in it for the first time, and it is a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Constitution. During the beginnings of the Constitution, the Senate also performed the functions of the Constitutional Court.
