At the sitting of May 20, the Saeima (parliament) confirmed Kristine Zile to the position of a judge of the Supreme Court. She will be able to take up the duties of a senator after giving the oath of office to the President.
In the competition for the position of a senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate, the general meeting of senators of the Department gave a positive opinion on the suitability of Kristine Zile for this position.
Kristine Zile has been a sworn advocate in the law firm "Cobalt" for 15 years. She has been a lecturer at the Department of Civil Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia for 20 years, mainly giving lessons in inheritance law, family law and civil procedure.
In parallel with the duties of a sworn advocate and lecturer, she is engaged in science – she has spoken at international conferences, at the annual scientific conferences of the University of Latvia, and has written publications. Kristine Zile has given lectures to judges, lawyers and other legal professionals.
