On Saturday, October 25, the first moot court in administrative law organised by the European Law Students’ Association in Latvia (ELSA Latvia) took place in premises of the University of Latvia and the Supreme Court. During the moot court students solved catch questions on administrative procedure and competition law.  

Nine teams from the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia and other higher educational institutions participated in moot court. Elimination matches and semi-finals in their turn were judged by professionals in administrative law and competition law,  inter alia, Rudite Vidusa and Janis Neimanis, judges of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court, and assistants to judges of respective department – Ilze Zoldnere, Silvija Kuskina, Aleksandrs Potaicuks, Liva Skujina and Agris Dreimanis.

After hard elimination matches and semi-final moot courts, teams “Association of Honest Dinosaurs” (Liene Abola, Edvarts Gaigals, Janis Ciguzis) and “Res, non verba” (Santa Ratnika, Ance Driksne, Sindija Erele) entered the final in accordance with decision adopted by moot court judges.

The team “Association of Honest Dinosaurs” won the moot court named by K.Dislers, and judges recognised Edvarts Gaigals to be the best speaker of the moot court. Special award of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court was given to Ance Driksne.
