5 May, 2016
Today, on 5 May, the Saeima (Parliament) approved Dzintra Amerika as a judge of the Supreme Court, at the same time releasing her from the office of a judge of the Administrative regional court.
Dzintra Amerika, when nominating her candidacy in the competition to the office of a judge of the Supreme Court, applied for the office of a judge of the Department of Administrative Cases. Since September 2015, she has discharged judicial duties during the vacancy of a judge in this department.
The judge has discharged judicial duties since 2005 – in the beginning, in the Administrative district court, but between 2010 and 2015 – in the Administrative regional court. Dzintra Amerika points out – the fact that she has worked in the administrative court almost since the dawn of administrative courts, allows her believing that she not only knows the case-law and feels peculiarities thereof, but also has provided certain contribution to development of this case-law.
Dzintra Amerika was born in 1973. In 2003, she acquired the degree of Master of Social Sciences in Law.
There have been ten judges in the Department of Administrative Cases.
