The Supreme Court of Latvia carries out the project “The role of judge assistants in effective work organization of the Supreme Court” in 2019-2020. The project prepared by the Administration of the Supreme Court of Latvia was supported by the Nordic and Baltic Mobility Programme for Public Administration.

 

The aim of the project

The aim of the project is to provide mutual experience exchange between judge assistants from the Supreme Courts of Latvia and Nordic countries, raise qualification in the following areas:

  • innovative ways how judge assistants can support judges,
  • role of judge assistants in ensuring quality of judgements,
  • competence of judge assistants, different techniques of drafting judgements,
  • promoting public confidence in courts,
  • best practice exchange in effective court case handling at Supreme Courts,
  • promoting cooperation between Supreme Courts of Nordic countries and Latvia.

 

Activities

During the project the following experience exchange visits took place

  • at the Supreme Court of Iceland, October 2019,
  • at the Supreme Court of Norway, October 2019,
  • at the Supreme Court of Finland, November 2019,
  • at the Supreme Court of Sweden, February 2020.
