According to the territorial reform of courts of first instance, on March 1, 2018, the district courts of Aizkraukle, Bauska, Dobele, Jekabpils, Ogre and Tukums and respective Land Register Offices will be reorganized, merging them with Jelgava City Court and the corresponding Land Register Office and changing the name of the court and naming it– Zemgale District Court and, accordingly, Land Register Office of Zemgale District Court.

On February 19, the Council for the Judiciary adopted decisions on the transfer of judges of Aizkraukle District Court, Bauska District Court, Dobele District Court, Jekabpils District Court, Ogre District Court and Tukums District Court and corresponding Land Register Offices to Zemgale District Court and Land Register Office of Zemgale District Court as from March 1.

Judges of Aizkraukle District Court Jolanta Bebrisa, Sarmite Daukste, Iveta Silicka, Sallija Vikentjeva, Inga Zalite and judge of the Land Register Office of Aizkraukle District Court Gita Zenfelta have been transferred to Zemgale District Court to perform judicial duties in Aizkraukle.

Judges of Bauska District Court Lauma Iveta Andzane, Irina Bogdanova, Lilita Kosoja, Marina Ribina, Agnese Skulme, Indra Tikuma and judge of the Land Register Office of Bauska District Court Lauma Aina Keidena have been transferred to Zemgale District Court to perform judicial duties in Bauska.

Judges of Dobele District Court Iluta Kovalova, Renate Krasovska, Nora Pakule, Arija Ulasevica, Andris Skutans and judge of the Land Register Office of Dobele District Court Ligita Birkhane have been transferred to Zemgale District Court to perform judicial duties in Dobele.

Judges of Jekabpils District Court Liga Baltmane-Zepa, Lilita Barbale, Ramiro Grandans, Valdis Muiznieks, Viktors Trusels, Inese Tumanova and judges of the Land Register Office of Jekabpils District Court Aija Bisane and Liga Ieleja have been transferred to Zemgale District Court to perform judicial duties in Jekabpils.

Judges of Ogre District Court Zita Kupce, Zeltite Kusina, Dzintars Melbardis, Arnis Naglis, Dainis Plaudis, Inese Punte and judges of the Land Register Office of Zemgale District Court Sandra Breica and Ligita Ertmane have been transferred to the Zemgale District Court to perform judicial duties in Ogre.

Judges of Tukums District Court Rita Bruce, Adrija Kasakovska, Inese Mudele, Ligita Sprigule, Kristine Vanaga, Aelita Vancane and judge of the Land Register Office of Tukums District Court Glorija Sorokina have been transferred to Zemgale District Court to perform judicial duties in Tukums.

Along with the reorganization of the courts of first instance in Zemgale region, the territorial reform of the courts will be completed on March 1 and there will be nine district (city) courts of general jurisdiction and an administrative district court in Latvia.

The Council for the Judiciary determined the number of judges in the district (city) courts and corresponding land register offices, as from March 1, 2018 there will be: in Zemgale District Court – 50 judges and 13 judges in the Land Register Office; Vidzeme District Court – 32 judges and 10 judges in the Land Register Office; Kurzeme District Court – 36 judges and 11 judges in the Land Register Office; courts region of Latgale – 20 judges in Daugavpils Court and 6 judges in corresponding Land Registry Office, 15 judges in Rezekne Court and 4 judges in corresponding Land Register Office; Riga City Latgale District Court – 30 judges, Riga City Pardaugava Court – 28 judges, Riga City Vidzeme District Court – 44 judges and 20 judges in the corresponding Land Register Office; Riga District Court – 30 judges and 13 judges in the corresponding Land Register Office; Administrative District Court – 43 judges.
