ON MEDIA DAY THE SUPREME COURT CLARIFIES THE ABC OF JUDICIAL PROCEEDINGS

On annual Media Day which this time took place on April 25, the ABC of judicial proceedings was presented to journalists writing about work of courts. The Chief Justice, chairs of the departments and legal research counsels tried to explain complicated judicial proceedings in simple words, useful for media representatives.

THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE CASES TAKES PART IN CREATION OF SPECIAL ISSUE OF “JURISTA VĀRDS”

The issue of journal "Jurista Vārds" (“Lawyer’s Word”) of April 24 is devoted entirely to administrative law and chairs, judges and assistants to judges of all three court instances participated in its creation. The guest editor of "Jurista Vārds" is Dita Plepa, legal research counsel to the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court, who in turn involved almost all department in the project.

LATEST ISSUE OF THE BULLETIN – OVERVIEW ON THE WORK OF THE SUPREME COURT AND DEVELOPMENT OF CASE-LAW IN THE PAST YEAR

In the 16th issue of the Supreme Court Bulletin, a public report is published on the work of the Supreme Court in 2017, which in the history of the Latvian judicial system was the year when the Supreme Court began to work only as a cassation instance. Public report includes the characterization of the Supreme Court, changes and topicalities, statistics and the review and findings of the past year of the heads of departments of the Supreme Court departments and other structural units.
