DISPUTE ON IMPOSITION OF A DISCIPLINARY PENALTY ON ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT DERIVES FROM LABOUR LAW AND IS NOT SUBJECT TO REVIEW UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE

In the sitting the chairs of the departments of the Supreme Court, when considering the question submitted by the District Administrative Court judge regarding the jurisdiction of the dispute related to employment relationship, concluded that such a dispute shall not be reviewed under administrative procedure.

RESEARCH ON CASE-LAW IN CRIMINAL CASES REGARDING CRIMES AGAINST MORALITY AND SEXUAL INVIOLABILITY OF A MINOR

In the spring of this year, the Latvian Judicial Training Centre hosted extensive training for judges, prosecutors and other lawyers in combating sexual abuse of children and the role of the judiciary in the fight against it. In addition to the training activities, the research "Case-law in criminal cases regarding crimes against morality and sexual inviolability of a minor" was carried out.

LEGAL FACT REQUIRED FOR ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC LEGAL RELATIONSHIP SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE ADMINISTRATIVE COURT

Having resolved the issue on jurisdiction, during the sitting of the chairs of departments of the Supreme Court it has been recognized that a legal fact required for establishing the public legal relationship should be determined by the administrative court. This also applies to those legal facts the determination of which is expressly provided for in Section 288, Paragraph two of the Civil Procedure Law.

ON THE 99th ANNIVERSARY OF LATVIA THE SUPREME COURT UNVEILS THE SYMBOLIC MARK OF CENTENARY OF THE SENATE OF LATVIA

The Supreme Court has chosen Sipji Oak from Rumba parish as the symbol of the centennial of the Senate of Latvia. Rumba parish is the homeland of Kristaps Valters, the first Chair of the General Assembly of the Senate of Latvia. Symbolic mark of the centenary of the Senate of Latvia was officially opened by the Supreme Court during the celebration of 99th anniversary of Latvia on November 17.
