CONGRATULATIONS TO JUDGES VALERIJANS JONIKANS AND ILZE SKULTANE – OFFICERS OF THE ORDER OF THE THREE STARS

Valerijans Jonikans, Judge of the Department of Civil Cases, and Ilze Skultane, Judge of the Department of Administrative Cases, were awarded the highest state award – the Order of the Three Stars – for meritorious service to Latvia. The Order of Chapters has awarded the judges with the Order of the 4th class.

ENTRANCE OF THE SUPREME COURT IS CLOSED FOR RENOVATION; VISITORS SHOULD USE THE ENTRANCE OF THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

On Tuesday, October 24, the repair works of the exterior staircase of the entrance of the Supreme Court from Elizabetes Street are commenced. Visitors of the Supreme Court should use the entrance of the Ministry of Justice (from Tērbatas Street).

LATVIAN INSTITUTE OF LAW INVITES TO ATTEND THE LECTURE OF PROFESSOR FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD

On October 20, the Latvian Institute of Law, with the support of the Supreme Court, the Latvian Bar Association, the Riga Latvian Society and the magazine "Jurista Vārds" in the framework of its program of guest lecturers, invited Ariel Ezrachi, director of the University of Oxford Centre for Competition Law and Policy, to give lecture in Riga on competition law and digital economy.

BANK ACCOUNT IS CHANGED FOR SECURITY DEPOSIT PAYMENT FOR FILING AN ANCILLARY COMPLAINT, REQUEST OF TEMPORARY PROTECTION, APPLICATION ON RE-ADJUDICATION OF A CASE DUE TO NEWLY DISCOVERED CIRCUMSTANCES IN ADMINISTRATIVE CASES

The party to administrative proceedings who submits an ancillary complaint to the Department of Administrative Cases, as well as request of temporary protection and an application on re-adjudication of a case due to newly discovered circumstances in an administrative case shall take into account that hereafter security deposit for these activities must be paid to the Supreme Court deposit account.

At the end of September, in order to get acquainted with the legal status of assistants to judges, advisers and of other court support staff, organization of work and cooperation with judges, legal research counsels Kristine Zemite and Nora Magone, and assistants to judges Silvija Kuskina, Madara Storha and Darta Eglite, participated in an experience exchange visit to the Czech Republic.
