Although with delay, but collection of rulings of the Senate of 2012 is published

With great delay related to search of publishers of the collection and preparation of the book, finally collection of rulings of the Supreme Court Senate of 2012 found its way to readers.

The Person of the Year - 2013 – Kalvis Torgans

Collective vote stated that the Person of the Year of the Supreme Court is professor Kalvis Torgans, the senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate. When receiving the Themis Award in nomination, which is the highest appreciation of the court, Kalvis Torgans expressed joy and gratification for collective assessment of his work.

The Faculty of Law of Moscow State University congratulates the Supreme Court on anniversary of the Senate

“the 95th anniversary of foundation of the Senate as the highest judicial institution of independent Latvia raises sense of affiliation, as Kristaps Valters and Janis Graudins, graduates of the Faculty of Law of Moscow University became first senators, and later another 13 lawyers, who also were graduates of Moscow University, joined them”, writes associate professor Stanislav Romanov, the deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law of Lomonosov Moscow State University in greetings to the Supreme Court on the 95th anniversary of the Senate of Latvia.

On the 95th anniversary of the Senate of Latvia its legacy – succession, judicature and understanding of judge’s mission in legal state – is stressed

Legacy left by the highest court instance of the first era of Free State of Latvia – by the Senate of Latvia – is values learned and resumed by the Supreme Court of restored Republic of Latvia, - Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court stressed in the ceremonial sitting dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Senate of Latvia.

The Supreme Court celebrates the 95th anniversary of the Senate of Latvia

On December 19, ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the highest court instance – the Senate of Latvia – will take place in the Supreme Court. The President of the State, the Speaker of the Saeima (the Parliament), members of the Board of Justice, the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, immediate families of senators of the Senate of Latvia, former senators and judges of the Supreme Court, present senators, judges and employees have been invited to ceremonial meeting.

The senator Jautrite Briede is elected in the office of the professor of the University of Latvia

On December 14, the Professors Council of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia elected Dr.iur. Jautrite Briede, the senator of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate of the Supreme Court, in the office of the professor in state law for 6 years.

The Supreme Court bulletin - changes in the court, case-law of the Senate and materials from Latvian Judges’ Conference

In nearest future Latvian courts, other institutions of system of justice and higher educational institutions will receive regular, the seventh issue of the Supreme Court bulletin, but at present it has already been available on the web site of the Supreme Court.
