The Supreme Court invites researchers to participate in project seminar about security in Europe

The Supreme Court has involved in the research project “Securing Europe through Counter-Terrorism: Impact, Legitimacy and Effectiveness” of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission. Within project framework, on the 5th of September, in Riga, meeting of working team of the project will take place in premises of the Supreme Court to present and evaluate result of the first two work stages.

The delegation from Central Asia countries visits the Supreme Court within administrative procedure implementation programme

On the 15th of July, delegation consisting of managers of judicial and state administration institutions and lecturers of higher educational institutions from Kirgizstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as managers of regional programmes of German Association for International Cooperation (GIZ) visited the Supreme Court.

The Board of Justice supported appointment of Aija Ornina, the judge of Riga city Kurzeme district court, in the post of the Chair of this court, and appointment of the judge of Jelgava court Liga Asmane in the post of the Chair of Jelgava court.

Seventeen assistants to advocates become sworn advocates

On the 17th of June, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court accepted an oath of seventeen advocated, admitted in the Latvian Council of Sworn Advocates. All of them are ex-assistants to sworn advocates.

Zane Petersone will continue to execute duties of a judge of the Chamber of Civil Cases

The Board of Justice instructed Zane Petersone, the judge of Riga regional court, to execute judicial duties of a judge of the Chamber of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court as from the 3rd of June, for the term of a vacancy of a judge.
