The Division of Document Administration in the Supreme Court is led by Vanda Zoldnere

This week, the position of the Head of the Division of Document Administration of the Supreme Court was taken by Vanda Zoldnere. The new Head of the Division admits that she has always had a wish to acquire new skills and experience, to test her abilities in various fields. For the last seven years, V. Zoldnere worked as a consultant of social security of the Chief Taxation Department of the State Revenue Service. The experience obtained in an institution with strict and perfect system of document administration, will be useful in the new position, as well.

Supreme Court officials are greeted on their Graduation

The 5th of July was a celebratory day in Supreme Court. Chief Justice was greeting those officials who have obtained a diploma of higher educational establishment. There are eleven graduates in Supreme Court this year – three are Masters of Law, six are lawyers with higher professional education and two bachelors.

The State President assesses the work accomplished by the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice

The role of judicial power in promotion and maintenance of the rule of law – this was the theme of the International Judicial Conference which was organized on July 2 – 3 by the US Embassy in cooperation with the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia and the Ministry of Justice. At the opening of the conference, the US Ambassador in Latvia Katherine Todd Bailey specially noted the contribution of the State President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga in determination of the standards of the rule of law, as well as in the development of freedom and democracy. It was what the President said in USA last year that incited organization of a conference of such a high level in Latvia, and upon the invitation of Vike-Freiberga, the US Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito participated in the conference as an honorary guest.
