On December 14, the Professors Council of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia elected Dr.iur. Jautrite Briede, the senator of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate of the Supreme Court, in the office of the professor in state law for 6 years.

In accordance with academic traditions, firstly, Jautrite Briede read open lecture, its subjects were involvement of society and internal and external verification of public administration.

Then, members of the Professors Council assessed her scientific and pedagogical activity. Positive references about candidate to the office were given by selected experts – Dr.iur. Sanita Osipova, the judge of the Constitutional Court and the professor of the University of Latvia, and Dr.iur. Ringolds Balodis, the professor of the University of Latvia.

After the secret vote, the Professors Council announced its decision on election of Jautrite Briede in the office of the professor of the Faculty of Law.  

Jautrite Briede has worked in the Faculty of Law of the University since 1995. In 2006, she received scientific degree of Doctor of Law, and 2010 she has been associate professor of the University of Latvia.

Since establishment of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate of the Supreme Court in 2004, Jautrite Briede has combined scientific and pedagogical work with senator’s work in the Supreme Court.
