On April 25, a delegation from Kyrgyzstan – the President's Chancery and the Supreme Court – visited the Supreme Court of Latvia. Guests met with Anita Zikmane, Head of the Division of Case law and Research.

Anita Zikmane introduced the visitors with the structure of the judicial system of Latvia, providing more detailed information on the work of the Supreme Court. The representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed particular interest in issues affecting the budgeting of the judiciary, the selection and professional evaluation of judges, and the development of judicial practice. In brief, similarities and differences of both judicial systems were discussed.

The guests also visited the courthouse premises – a courtroom and the museum, gaining insight into the history of the judicial system.

The delegation is visiting Riga from 23 to 27 April to learn from Latvia's experience in implementing the reforms of the judicial system. Within the framework of the exchange of experience, meetings are also organized in the Ministry of Justice, Riga Graduate School of Law and the Ombudsman's Office. The training is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and financed by the US government.
