Latvia has a wide range of opportunities to be represented in international institutions in The Hague – stated Ilze Ruse, the Latvian Ambassador to the Netherlands, while visiting the Supreme Court. She emphasized that by engaging in work of these institutions Latvia presents itself as a responsible representative of the international legal system.

The Hague hosts several international judicial institutions, and the ambassador told about them in detail – the UN International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the Hague Conference on Private International Law and the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.

Opportunities of Latvia in these institutions – nomination of candidates for judges' positions and other positions in judicial institutions, gaining of experience in issues regarding the court administration, practice and work opportunities for lawyers, training for young professionals.

The Latvian ambassador called for these opportunities to be used and promised that there will be support of the Embassy of Latvia in organizational matters.

The Supreme Court had invited for the meeting the representatives of the Prosecutor’s General Office, of the Ministry of Justice and of the Court Administration.
