On Wednesday, 18 May, representatives of the system of justice of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan visited the Supreme Court.

As the delegation from Jordan included representatives of the system of justice, whose functions are related to supervision and administration of the court system, the Supreme Court   familiarised guests with role and functions of the Supreme Court in Latvian court system, particularly stressing formation of the budget of the court, provision for work, personnel management and development of case-law. The delegation from Jordan was welcomed by Sandra Lapina, the Head of the Administration of the Supreme Court, and Anita Zikmane, the Head of the division of Case-law and Research.   

During the visit to Latvia, organised by the Ministry of Justice, the Jordan delegation also visited the Ministry of Justice, the Court Administration, Riga regional court, the Prosecutor’s General Office, and other institutions of the court system.

Study visit was carried out within project financed by the European Union “Support to the Justice Sector Reform in Jordan”. When working on reforming of system of justice, Jordan would like to receive support of Latvian professionals and examples of good praxis in different issues, including strengthening of capacity of judiciary and court administration, judicial training and other issues related to justice.
