On Tuesday, June 6, within the framework of experience exchange visit organized by the Judicial Training Centre the Supreme Court was visited 16 participants from various European Union countries, including 9 judges of general jurisdiction, 2 administrative judges and 5 prosecutors.

Such a study visit is organized every year in the framework of experience exchange programme of European Judicial Training Network (EJTN). The project aims at organizing exchange visits to promote mutual recognition of legal practice in order to build a single European legal space.

Anita Kovalevska, Judge of the Department of Administrative Cases and Chair of the Judicial Ethics Committee, introduced guests with an information on structure and performance trends of the Supreme Court, as well as on work of the Supreme Court departments, functions of the Judicial Ethics Committee, and gave answers to questions of interest.

Head of the Secretariat of the Council for the Judiciary Solvita Harbacevica gave comprehensive overview on the work of the Council for the Judiciary, its creation and operation.

Foreign colleagues also looked at the Supreme Court premises, visited the museum of the court and got an insight into the creation of the Supreme Court and development of the judicial system of Latvia.
