On November 15, at a ceremony at the Supreme Court Valerijs Maksimovs, Senator of the Department of Civil Cases, received the Badge of Honour of the Third Degree of the Judiciary for exemplary, honest, and creative work in the area of justice.

The judiciary’s award aims to highlight outstanding achievements and contribution to the development of the Latvian judicial system and the strengthening of the rule of law.

In celebration dedicated to the Independence Day, Supreme Court colleagues also congratulated Peteris Dzalbe, Chair of the Department of Criminal Cases, and Marite Zagere, Senator of the Department of Civil Cases, who were awarded the highest state award – the Order of Three Stars. Senators will receive the award from the hands of the President at a solemn ceremony on November 18.

The judges and employees who were awarded the Supreme Court’s Certificate of Recognition and the Badges of Long Term of Office were also welcomed.

The Supreme Court’s Certificate of Recognition was awarded to Marika Senkane and Normunds Salenieks, Senators of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate, to Santa Vigante, Assistant to the Chair of the Department, to Janis Baumanis, Legal Research Counsel to the Department of Criminal Cases, to Ieva Liepina, Legal Research Counsel to the Department of Administrative Cases, and to Janis Geks, Judicial Assistant of the Department of Administrative Cases.

The Supreme Court’s Badges of Long Term of Office are given for 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service at the Supreme Court. This year the golden Badge of Long Term of Office of 25 years was given to Senator Andris Gulans and former Senator Voldemars Cizevskis, Badge of Long Term of Office of 20 years was given to Senator Edite Vernusa and former Senator Anda Vitola. Supreme Court’s employees Nora Magone, Linda Mitre-Selegovska, Santa Vigante and Ilona Gudreniece received Badges for 15 years of office, and Zane Skrastiņa for 10 years of office.
