On Monday, March 12, Ivars Bickovics, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, participates in the joint meeting of the Court of Justice and the Network of Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union in Luxembourg.

The first working session of the meeting will be devoted to the presentation and the first evaluation of the website of the Judicial Network of the European Union (JNEU). The JNEU has been launched last year at the initiative of the President of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the presidents of the constitutional and supreme courts of the Member States. The main objective is to facilitate the interactive and secure sharing and exchange of information and documents. The Platform will have a portal of preliminary rulings, in which references for a preliminary ruling filed in 2018 will be available in all languages​​, as well as rulings national courts of interest to the Union and various researches.

At the beginning of this year, the test platform is already available to presidents of courts and contact persons of the Network in all Member States. The Court of Justice of the European Union wishes to hear comments and suggestions.

The round table discussions on the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and on the references for a preliminary ruling will be further discussed during the meeting. Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, will also take part in the discussions.
