On 4-7 June, Ivars Bickovics, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court participates in the Seventh Conference of Chief Justices of Central and Eastern Europe in Budapest, Hungary.

In this year's conference, during which more than twenty chief justices of supreme courts meet, the discussion will take place on the independence of courts and individual judges, role of chief justices, public confidence in judiciary, innovations in court systems and electronic case management, as well as encouragement of effective legal profession.

Conference of Chief Justices of Central and Eastern European Conference of Presidents of Supreme Courts is being organized since 2011, contributing to discussion forums on judicial reform in Central and Eastern European countries.

The organization of the conference is supported by the Central and East European Law Institute. CEELI is an independent, international non-profit organization which since 1999 is dealing with building of professional and international competencies of legal practitioners.
