Today, on September 28, Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, takes part in the General Assembly of the Network of Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union and in the conference in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The topic of this year's conference is the relationships between the Supreme Courts and the Constitutional Courts. The baseline report is presented by Giovanni Mammone, President of the Supreme Court of Italy.

The second part of the conference is devoted to comparative law in the case-law and practice of the Supreme Courts, which will be presented by Maarten Feteris, President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands.

The aim of the Network of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union is to promote the exchange of views and experience among the supreme courts on the case-law, the organization and functions of the supreme courts. The general meeting of the members or the General Assembly meets every two years.
